Call for Papers:

Topics:

This workshop will explore the innovative use of electric vehicles (EVs) and machine learning models to manage peak energy demand in the UK. We will present a decentralized energy storage system that leverages the UK's growing EV fleet, focusing on how EVs can supply energy during peak periods and recharge during off-peak hours. Topics related to the theme are particularly encouraged, including but not limited to:

  • Peak Energy Demand
  • Electric Vehicles (EVs)
  • Machine Learning
  • Decentralized Energy Storage
  • Sustainable Energy Management
  • Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G)
  • Energy Transition

Goal/Rationale:

We present a sustainable solution for managing peak energy demand considering the UK as an example by leveraging the growing electric vehicle (EV) fleet as a decentralized energy storage system. Our approach integrates machine learning models, such as Bayesian probability frameworks, to optimize EV energy supply during peak periods and recharging during off-peak hours. This strategy aims to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, enhance grid stability, and support the UK’s net-zero goals. Central to this framework is an innovative income model designed to incentivize EV users to participate in energy trading. By incorporating dynamic pricing, contribution bonuses, and battery health subsidies, we ensure financial rewards for users while minimizing grid strain.

Real-time data on EV mobility, charging patterns, and grid demand will be analyzed to optimize energy distribution and maximize user participation. Additionally, predictive analytics will be used to forecast peak demand and adjust compensation rates, ensuring a balanced and efficient system. Through this workshop, we aim to bridge the gap between technical feasibility and real-world implementation, providing actionable insights for researchers, policymakers, and energy professionals. By aligning financial incentives with sustainability goals, our framework offers a scalable solution for managing peak energy demand. We highlight the environmental, economic, and societal benefits of this approach, paving the way for a sustainable energy future in the UK and beyond.

Title: Leveraging EVs and Machine Learning for Sustainable Energy Demand Management

Date: May 16th, 2025 (UTC +1)

Venue: Room LT507, Livingston Tower, Department of Computer and Information Sciences, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK

How to Participate:

Poster

The workshop provides an opportunity for poster exhibition. Authors who are interested in presenting a poster, please submit your materials (prefer in .pdf) to [email protected] before May 9th, 2025.

Detailed information on your presentation date and time will be confirmed closer to the workshop. If you have any questions about your presentation or the workshop, please email [email protected].

Poster Presentation Guidelines

  1. Poster presentations must be prepared using the template provided:
*Poster layout template for poster presentation (download)
    *Poster layout background (download)
  2. Posters should generally be in A1 size (width: 594mm x height: 841mm) and include the followings:

Title, author and co-author names, and the affiliation(s) information.

Body parts, including "Abstract", "Introduction", "Methods", "Results", "Discussion" and "Conclusions".

  3. Presenters are suggested to set the font size properly and avoid placing anything at the margin part of the poster as it will be difficult to view.
  4. Posters should be well illustrated. All the pictures used should be high quality and with high resolution.

(You can refer to the instructions for more detailed information. Additional presentation guidelines may be announced by workshop committees.)

VISA:

Welcome to GOV.UK

In order to ensure the information is correct and up to date, there may be changes which we are not aware of. And different countries have different rules for the visa application. It is always a good idea to check the latest regulations in your country. This page just gives some general information of the visa application.

UK Visa Information

What you need to do:

  • Check if what you plan to do in the UK is allowed as a Standard Visitor.
  • Check you meet the eligibility requirements.
  • Check if you need to apply for a visa to visit the UK.
  • Apply for a Standard Visitor visa online - if you need one.

Check you meet the eligibility requirements

You must have a passport or travel document to enter the UK. It should be valid for the whole of your stay. You must be able to show that:

  • you'll leave the UK at the end of your visit
  • you're able to support yourself and your dependants during your trip (or have funding from someone else to support you)
  • you're able to pay for your return or onward journey (or have funding from someone else to pay for the journey)
  • you'll not live in the UK for extended periods through frequent or successive visits, or make the UK your main home

Check if you need a visa to visit the UK

Depending on your nationality, you'll either:

  • have to apply for a Standard Visitor visa before you travel to the UK
  • be able to visit the UK for up to 6 months without needing a visa

You can check if you need a visa before you apply. If you do not need a visa, you must still meet the Standard Visitor eligibility requirements to visit the UK. You may be asked questions at the UK border about your eligibility and the activities you plan to do.

NOTICE:

Should your application be denied, the organizing committee cannot change the decision of visa officer, nor will CONF-MPCS engage in discussion or correspondence with the visa application center on behalf of the applicant. The registration fee CANNOT be refunded when the VISA application of individual being denied.
